Choreographic technique for dancers, performers and makers
I cover all aspects of choreography (devising movement) from the most fundamental choreographic techniques of time, space and force to more sophisticated artistic concerns such as form, style, abstraction and compositional structures.(Also available as a 12 week module for performance students).
Building worlds/ a methodology for collaboration
For performance makers who are interested in cross art form work or theatre that has a strong design element. How to orchestrate the strands of movement, sound, video and spacial design, light, and animation and how this approach can enable more effective collaborations.
How to survive as a freelance artist
Working with final year and MA University students to prepare them for employment "Playing the Game" which includes funding applications, how to make contacts and maximising their skills and potential. I also give support to artists with Dyslexia, as someone who has faced the challenges myself.
Workshops tailored to specific projects
How these workshops are run varies according to need. Artists and Organisations approach me with a specific project they wish to develop and I facilitate workshops around their ideas. I also do specific workshops for students to allow them an insight in to creating devised new work and developing the skills to embark on their projects. Workshops are pitched at the level and experience of the group.
Organisations and Institutions that I work with: University of the West of Scotland, Birkbeck University London, Trinity Laban London, International Student Drama Festival, Middlesex University, Includem, Glasgow City Council, National StudioTheatre, National Theatre Scotland, Dyslexia Scotland, East Lothian Council.
